Show Information: Rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme… You better get me to school on time! Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock – The Musical is a two-hour, two-act show, based on the hit movie. The tuner follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?
Rehearsal Dates: Please read the following information carefully. Individual Lessons: If cast as an instrumentalist, from July to late September, rehearsals will consist of private lessons with our Music Director, Chris Vehmas. Each cast member instrumentalist will receive approximately 4 individual 45-minute lessons to learn their parts on their instruments, based on their previous experience and the amount of time needed for each section. Please be sure to mark any vacations or planned absences for your family during these months on the audition form. If your child is cast, the team will be in regular communication to schedule their lessons and provide the tools they need to rock out! Small Group Rehearsals (Kids & Dewey): Rehearsals will begin in October, held twice a week on Mondays & Wednesdays from 6:30–8:30 pm. These rehearsals will focus on combining the individual music parts with the group, as well as working on choreography and scenes with Dewey and the kids. Full Cast Rehearsals: Starting in November, full cast rehearsals will begin and will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00–9:00 pm, as well as Sundays from 1:00–4:00 pm. The intention is to dismiss the kids between 8:00–8:30 pm for most weekday rehearsals. What to Prepare: Please come to the audition with a completed audition form and signed outdate calendar. Please prepare both general vocal cuts from “If Only You Would Listen” and “Stick it to the Man." If auditioning for Summer, please also prepare the vocal cut for “Time to Play." If you play an instrument, please also bring your instrument (or multiple instruments) to the audition and prepare to show the team any song you like to play. Drums, keyboard, and bass will be provided. Please be prepared to have a short lesson on your instrument with our music director in the audition room, as well as to read sides from the script and participate in a short dance assessment. Show Information: Ten strangers are summoned to a remote island. All that the guests have in common is a wicked past they’re unwilling to reveal and a secret that will seal their fate… for each has been marked for murder. As the weather turns and the group is cut off from the mainland, the bloodbath begins; one by one, they are brutally murdered in accordance with the lines of a sinister nursery rhyme about “Ten Little Soldier Boys.”
Character Descriptions: Judge Lawrence Wargrave A recently retired judge. Wargrave is a highly intelligent old man with a commanding personality. As the characters begin to realize that a murderer is hunting them, Wargrave’s experience and air of authority make him a natural leader for the group. He lays out evidence, organizes searches, and ensures that weapons are locked away safely. Wargrave’s guilt is revealed at the end of the novel in a confession that illuminates the characteristics that drive him to commit the series of murders: a strong sense of justice combined with a sadistic delight in murdering. Vera Claythorne A former governess who comes to Indian Island purportedly to serve as a secretary to Mrs. Owen. Vera wants to escape a past in which she killed a small boy in her care, Cyril Hamilton, so that the man she loved would inherit Cyril’s estate. Although the coroner cleared her of blame, Vera’s lover abandoned her. Vera is one of the most intelligent and capable characters in the novel, but she also suffers from attacks of hysteria, feels guilty about her crime, and reacts nervously to the uncanny events on the island. The “Ten Little Indians” poem has a powerful effect on her. Philip Lombard A mysterious, confident, and resourceful man who seems to have been a mercenary soldier in Africa. Lombard is far bolder and more cunning than most of the other characters, traits that allow him to survive almost until the end of the novel. His weakness is his chivalrous attitude toward women, particularly Vera, with whom he has a number of private conversations. He cannot think of her as a potential killer, and he underestimates her resourcefulness, which proves a fatal mistake. Dr. Edward George Armstrong A gullible, slightly timid doctor. Armstrong often draws the suspicion of the other guests because of his medical knowledge. He is a recovering alcoholic who once accidentally killed a patient by operating on her while drunk. Armstrong, while professionally successful, has a weak personality, making him the perfect tool for the murderer. He has spent his whole life pursuing respectability and public success, and is unable to see beneath people’s exteriors. William Henry Blore A former police inspector. Blore is a well-built man whose experience often inspires others to look to him for advice. As a policeman, he was corrupt and framed a man named Landor at the behest of a criminal gang. On the island, he acts boldly and frequently takes initiative, but he also makes frequent blunders. He constantly suspects the wrong person, and his boldness often verges on foolhardiness. Emily Brent An old, ruthlessly religious woman who reads her Bible every day. The recording accuses Emily Brent of killing Beatrice Taylor, a servant whom she fired upon learning that Beatrice was pregnant out of wedlock. Beatrice subsequently killed herself. Unlike the other characters, Emily Brent feels convinced of her own righteousness and does not express the slightest remorse for her actions. General John Gordon Macarthur The oldest guest. Macarthur is accused of sending a lieutenant, Arthur Richmond, to his death during the Great War because Richmond was his wife’s lover. Once the first murders take place, Macarthur, already guilt-ridden about his crime, becomes resigned to his death and sits by the sea waiting for it to come to him. Thomas Rogers The dignified butler. Rogers continues to be a proper servant even after his wife is found dead and the bodies begin piling up. The recording accuses Rogers and his wife of letting their former employer die because they stood to inherit money from her. Ethel Rogers Rogers’s wife. Ethel is a frail woman, and the death of Tony Marston makes her faint. Wargrave believes her husband dominates her and that he masterminded their crime. Anthony Marston A rich, athletic, handsome youth. Tony Marston likes to drive recklessly and seems to lack a conscience. He killed two small children in a car accident caused by his speeding, but shows no remorse. Assistant Commissioner Sir Thomas Legge Assistant commissioner of Scotland Yard who listens, baffled, as Inspector Maine updates him on the case of Soldier Island. He is confused and frustrated by the case’s impossible twists. Inspector Maine An inspector of Scotland Yard who has been investigating the case of Soldier Island. He updates AC Sir Thomas Legge on the case, showcasing the thorough work he and his colleagues have put into it, which makes it all the more baffling that they seem unable to solve it.

Show dates: December 5 - 7, 2025
Show Information: With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Character Descriptions: Annie Annie is a complex little girl. She is a tough, streetwise urchin who is nevertheless vulnerable when she thinks she might lose what has become most important to her: a newfound "family" who loves her. She has to be motherly in scene one, independent in scene two, overwhelmed in scenes four and five, needy in scene seven, and hopeful for the future in scenes ten and eleven. The actor who plays Annie must be strong vocally and musically. She must be capable of vocal projection without strain. She also needs a good understanding of subtext so she can act appropriately during the various scenes between Warbucks and Grace, and Miss Hannigan and Grace. Although she is at times aggressive or crafty, the audience should never doubt Annie is a friendly and caring child; she will go to any extent to gain the love of a family to which she can belong. Gender: Female Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: A3 The Orphans Molly, Tessie, July, Duffy, Kate and Pepper. These girls are gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially lovable. The actors portraying them must be able to have mischievous fun with each other as well as "sibling-style" fights. Each student should be able to create and shape her own character. Children auditioning for these roles need to have vocal strength and be visually expressive. All of their blocking and movements must appear motivated and strong. Cast these characters well and you will have won over your audience by the end of scene one. Gender: Female Miss Hannigan This woman is definitely a "has-been." Her distaste for her job and the children that are part of it should be obvious in every line she speaks, every song she sings and every move she makes. The student who plays her must have an excellent sense of comic timing. The acrid delivery of her lines and the torch-like rendition of her songs must distinguish her from the other characters in the show. Gender: Female Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: G3 Grace Farrell Grace is mature, calm, cool and "together." She is classy and businesslike when dealing with Miss Hannigan and Warbucks, yet maternal toward Annie. The student playing Grace can set herself apart from the other characters simply by the sophisticated way she walks. Grace should seem ready with an answer for just about anything. Each dramatic situation should seem to come "under control" the moment she glides into a scene. The student playing Grace must be able to negotiate the challenging intervals in "N.Y.C." Gender: Female Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Rooster Rooster and Lily are quite the team -- "team" being the operative word, as the characters play off each other constantly. You might consider casting students of contrasting heights. Rooster can even be shorter than Lily; after all, these two are not to be taken too seriously! Rooster is flashy and self-assured. His "moves" should be as smooth as a gambler's, as should be the message he sells in "Easy Street." "Easy Street" is the most challenging number in the show, in terms of vocal range. If the students playing Rooster and Lily are strong both vocally and visually, the audience will feel like joining them in "Easy Street"! Gender: Male Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: Bb3 Lily Rooster and Lily are quite the team -- "team" being the operative word, as the characters play off each other constantly. You might consider casting students of contrasting heights. Rooster can even be shorter than Lily; after all, these two are not to be taken too seriously! Lily (airhead that she is) is always distracted, although she manages to pick up on any conversation involving money. She never acts as the leader, always bringing up the rear while tripping over her own feet (it is difficult to walk and check your makeup in a compact at the same time). "Easy Street" is the most challenging number in the show, in terms of vocal range. If the students playing Rooster and Lily are strong both vocally and visually, the audience will feel like joining them in "Easy Street"! Gender: Female Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: Bb3 Warbucks This may be the most challenging role for a student in this age group. He must appear middle-aged, self-assured and confident. At first awkwardly affectionate toward Annie, he soon finds himself completely charmed by her. He begins his transformation when he views "N.Y.C." through Annie's eyes and falls in love with the city again...and with her. The student who plays Warbucks will need to be extremely focused throughout the show. His posture, walk and speech patterns are very important. You might ask your young actor to shave his head for rehearsals, if he feels comfortable doing so before the performance dates; it can really help mold his character! Gender: Male Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Sandy In this production, Sandy is played by a human. Sandy is Annie's canine friend and scrappy in her own right. This dog also has to sing. Gender: Any Servants (Drake, Mrs. Greer and Mrs. Pugh) From the moment these characters enter the acting area, their presence, posture and speech should suggest the most fastidious of domestic help. (Your actors will have fun perfecting the precision steps, nods and curtsies.) Their heads are always held high and they rarely show their emotions. These roles are not difficult to sing, and creative students will have many opportunities to create charming characters of various ages. Gender: Any Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Additional Characters The most important qualities to look for in casting the remaining roles are vocal accuracy and the ability to develop a character. Each role is self-explanatory and usually identified by the character's occupation. Help your students develop these characters in the context of the historical time period. Students that are more comfortable performing in groups (without solo singing) might be cast as servants, pedestrians, Bundles, the chauffer, Louis Howe, the apple seller and the dogcatcher. Many a career had been launched by playing an apple seller at age ten! Some students may be wonderful organizers and love to be in the middle of everything, but afraid to be onstage. They can still fill important roles in the production, as chorus members or working on a committee or on the stage crew. Remember, the cast can be as large as your imagination. Not all these characters have audition scenes provided. Feel free to use other character's scenes to audition these roles. Gender: Any

Show Information: The holiday classic soars off the screen in this Broadway Junior, 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved television special. Filled with holiday hits like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "A Holly Jolly Christmas," Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer™ JR. features all of your favorite characters including Santa and Mrs. Claus, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, Clarice, Yukon Cornelius and, of course, Rudolph. It’s an adventure that teaches us that what makes you different can be what makes you special.
Character Descriptions: Sam The story’s narrator – and a snowman! Sam remembers the winter of “the big storm” – so well, in fact, that he decides to tell the whole story. Sam should be a strong singer and actor. As the narrator, the audience should understand every word Sam says! Choose an actor with a warm and welcoming stage presence for this important role. Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: B3 Santa Claus Needs no introduction! Choose a more mature actor with a great stage presence who can act, carry a tune, and completely embody this significant character role. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: B3 Mrs. Claus Another classic Christmas character. Cast an actor in this role that can make strong character choices and can be kind but firm with her husband. Donner Rudolph’s father and a proud member of the team who pulls Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. Donner does not sing a solo but should be a strong actor. It’s great if he reads as older onstage and pairs well with Mrs. Donner. Mrs. Donner Rudolph’s mother. She loves her son and even sets off to find Rudolph after he runs away. Mrs. Donner does not sing a solo, so cast a good actor who reads as older onstage and pairs well with Donner. Young Rudolph The hero of the story! This lovable misfit struggles to fit in due to his glowing, red nose. Young Rudolph should be a good actor and ideally appear younger onstage. Gender: Male Vocal range top: B4 Vocal range bottom: G#3 Rudolph The hero of the story! This lovable misfit struggles to fit in due to his glowing, red nose. Rudolph should be an excellent actor and singer, and he should be able to embody the emotional heart of the story. Gender: Male Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A#3 Bumble The Abominable Snow Monster can either be a few students operating a puppet or one student costumed as the monster. Bumble does not sing a solo, so this role should feature an actor with a great stage presence. Hermey A bit of an odd elf – he doesn’t want to make toys; he wants to be a dentist! Like Rudolph, Hermey is a misfit, and they become close friends over their shared outsider status. Cast a talented actor who can sing, act, and bring this dentist elf to life! Gender: Male Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: G#3 Boss Elf A great role for a student who is a natural leader and has good comedic instincts. Boss Elf grumbles about Hermey’s interest in dentistry at first, but it’s only because he cares so much about making perfect toys for Santa – he doesn’t mean any harm. Cast a good actor in this role. Gender: Male Fireball One of the yearlings. He is not particularly nice to Rudolph after his glowing nose is revealed. Fireball does not sing a solo, so this is a great role for a good actor who may not have the strongest singing voice. Gender: Male Clarice A doe who takes a liking to Rudolph in spite of his glowing, red nose. She is kind to him and even goes to look for him after he runs away. Clarice sings “There’s Always Tomorrow,” so cast an actor with a great singing voice who is able to portray Clarice’s kindness, patience, and gumption. Gender: Female Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: B3 Elves The Elves (including Elf 1, Elf 2, Elf 3, Elf4, and Aviator Elf) are Santa’s helpers and the choral backbone of the show. Elves 1 – 4 sing solos, and Aviator Elf has a featured spoken line. Be sure to cast strong singers as Elves 1 – 4, and feel free to add as many additional Elves as students who want to be involved in your production! Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: B3 Coach Comet The coach in charge of training the yearlings. He is good at his job, even if he is a little gruff, and doesn’t take kindly at all to Rudolph’s glowing red nose. Coach Comet doesn’t sing a solo, so cast a good actor in this role who will read as older onstage compared to the yearlings. Gender: Male Clarice's Father A great role for a newcomer to the stage. Although he does not sing a solo, his brief cameo really drives home that Rudolph is an outcast in Christmastown. Gender: Male Yukon Cornelius A prospector in the hunt for silver and gold, Yukon has a big personality and is not afraid of anything, including Bumble. Yukon sings “Fame And Fortune,” but keep in mind that this song can be done in a character voice. The most important qualities for this performer are a commanding stage presence, the ability to make strong character choices, and a willingness to chew the scenery! Gender: Male Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: C4 King Moonracer A great cameo role. This character does not sing a solo but should embody a regal, authoritative presence onstage. King Moonracer cares about the Misfit Toys on the island and wants to help them find real homes. Cast a good actor in this role who can command the stage. Gender: Male Charlie-In-The-Box The sentry on the Island of Misfit Toys. Sad to be named Charlie instead of Jack, Charlie-in-the-Box has several important lines and a few solos. This is a great role for a good actor and singer who can project and speak clearly onstage. Vocal range top: B4 Vocal range bottom: C4 Dolly Lives on the Island of Misfit Toys. This small role includes a solo and a few lines – ideal for a talented new performer who’s not quite ready for a lead role. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: E4 Cowboy One of the Misfit Toys. They have a few featured lines and are perfect for younger performers who may be new to the stage. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: E4 Train One of the Misfit Toys. They have a few featured lines and are perfect for younger performers who may be new to the stage. Plane One of the Misfit Toys. They have a few featured lines and are perfect for younger performers who may be new to the stage. Bird-Fish One of the Misfit Toys. They have a few featured lines and are perfect for younger performers who may be new to the stage. Spotted Elephant Lives on the Island of Misfit Toys. This role is perfect for a new performer. Ensemble Roles include: Herald Reporter, Chicago Reporter, Daily Mail Reporter, Daily News Reporter, Chronicler Reporter, Reindeer (including Reindeer 1, Reindeer 2, Reindeer 3), Elves (including Elf 1, Elf 2, Elf 3, Elf 4, and Aviator Elf), Yearlings, Misfit Toys

Show Information: One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
Character Descriptions: REN MCCORMACK Ren has recently traded in the big city for small-town life after his father walked out on him and his mother, Ethel. He’s trying his best to put his past behind him, but his new home has problems of its own. Ren tries to encourage Bomont to loosen its strict ban on dancing and live a little. This performer should possess the magnetism to inspire a whole community to cut loose. ETHEL MCCORMACK Ethel has recently arrived to Bomont with her son, Ren, stepping away from a failed marriage and trying to make a fresh start. She’s got a sense of humor about her situation and a great need to make sure her son is adjusting. REVEREND SHAW MOORE Reverend Shaw Moore is the most influential figure in Bomont. His conservative, religious views became strident after his son Bobby passed away in the Potawney Bridge accident, after driving home from a big dance – in fact, he’s outlawed dancing altogether. CHUCK CRANSTON Chuck Cranston is Ariel’s boyfriend and a recent high school dropout. He doesn’t have much ambition besides making sure he has control over Ariel. ARIEL MOORE Ariel is a young lady caught between her father Reverend Shaw Moore’s conservative beliefs and her own aspirations to experience life and enjoy it for herself. Ren ignites an excitement in her, and she learns quickly that she has to stand up to her father to get what she wants. VI MOORE Vi is married to Reverend Shaw Moore, and though she usually agrees with her husband’s point of view, she’s not afraid to disagree when the tensions rise and tempers flare in the house. LULU Lulu has recently invited her sister Ethel to stay with her and her husband, Wes, in the small town of Bomont. As Ren struggles to fit in with the rest of the teenagers, Lulu does her best to remain a patient and supportive host. WES Wes is Lulu’s husband and a small-town kind of a guy. He helps Ren find a job, but, unfortunately, Ren’s employment doesn’t last long. Wes grows impatient but continues to support his family in this tough, transitional period. RUSTY Rusty is Ariel’s best friend who talks a mile a minute and has a crush on the soft-spoken Willard. She’s unafraid to say what she wants, if only Willard would pick up on the clues. URLEEN & WENDY JO Urleen and Wendy Jo are part of Ariel’s group of girlfriends who stick together no matter what. While Urleen may be a little more blunt, Wendy Jo is definitely a little more eccentric. WILLARD HEWITT Willard is a country boy of few words and even fewer dance steps. At first, he may appear physically aggressive, but really he’s just a soft-spoken guy. He quickly becomes friends with Ren, and the unlikely pair lead the charge to bring dancing back to the town. Though at the top of the show he has two left feet, he commits to learning dance steps at the Bar-B-Que and dazzles the entire club. PRINCIPAL CLARK Principal Clark is the boss at Bomont’s high school and an adamant enforcer of the town’s strict guidelines. COACH DUNBAR Coach Dunbar is a teacher at the high school who strongly supports the town’s anti-dancing laws. When Ren arrives, Coach Dunbar does not make it easy for him, and exacerbates Ren’s situation by pitting him against other students. LYLE & TRAVIS Lyle and Travis are two members of the wrestling team who don’t like Ren, the new kid in school. BETTY BLAST Betty Blast owns the burger joint in town and gives the struggling Ren a job when he’s down on his luck. Be sure to cast a girl who can offer a bit of personality and strength. She has no trouble kicking anyone out of her restaurant if they’re causing trouble. ELEANOR DUNBAR Eleanor Dunbar is a prominent member of the town council and Coach Dunbar’s wife. She, along with other council members, must decide on whether they should uphold its existing moral laws. COWGIRL BONNIE Cowgirl Bonnie leads a band that frequents the Bar-B-Que. She’s the club’s favorite entertainer COWBOY BOB Cowboy Bob is a usual patron at the Bar-B-Que and takes a liking to Rusty when the high school teens visit the dance hall for the first time. COWGIRL JUDE, COWBOY CHET & COWGIRL LAURA JO Cowgirl Jude, Cowboy Chet, and Cowgirl Laura Jo are part of Cowboy Bob’s entourage who are having a routinely good night dancing when the Bomont teenagers make a visit. BICKLE, JETER & GARVIN Bickle, Jeter, and Garvin are teenage boys ready to help Ren and Willard take on the town’s laws. COP The Cop in town is the ultimate enforcer of the town’s strict laws. ENSEMBLE Footloose: Youth Edition is truly an ensemble story. From big-city Chicago to small-town Bomont, the cast must fill out the world by making distinct and specific character choices. Each role helps elevate the tension between the restless young people and the strict adults trying their best to protect their community and shield their children. PEOPLE, KIDS, FRIENDS, CONGREGATION, BOY, CHOIR, PARISHIONERS, ADULT PARISHIONERS, STUDENTS, GIRLS, GUYS, BOY 1, BOY 2, BAND, COWBOYS, COUNCIL MEMBERS, TOWNSPEOPLE.

Gender: Any Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Marlin An anxious clownfish and Nemo’s overprotective father who prefers the safety of his anemone to the frightening unknowns of the open ocean. Gender: Any Gurgle Frightened of strangers and the germs they carry with them, is a royal gramma who enjoys the safety and regulated cleanliness of the tank. Gender: Any Peach A mature and down-to-earth starfish, offers guidance and reassurance to all those who need it. Gill is the first fish Nemo has ever met with a similar “fin difference,” quickly becoming a mentor and inspiration for the young clownfish. Gender: Any Sea Turtles & Sea Turtle Kids Righteously mellow creatures featured in “Go With the Flow.” CRUSH, a 150-year-old sea turtle who knows how to hang loose, teaches Marlin a thing or two about being a good parent. Look for a strong singer who can confidently belt “Go With the Flow” to make it a truly radical jam. SQUIRT, offspring of Crush, fearlessly twirls through turbulent waters of the ocean and enjoys trying out cool new moves in the high- speed EAC. Show Information: It's our show now, kid. The ghost-with-the-most comes to the stage in Beetlejuice JR., the frightfully funny musical based on the beloved motion picture turned Broadway phenomenon. Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether)world of pandemonium.
Character Descriptions: Lydia Deetz Whip-smart, grieving fifteen- year-old whose dark sense of humor helps her cope with the loss of her mother, Emily. Lydia is unfazed by Beetlejuice’s antics and easily holds her own against both him and all things Netherworld. Gender: Female Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Charles Deetz Lydia’s father. He wants to help her get over the loss of her mother, although the ways he tries to “help” aren’t really what Lydia needs. Charles is under a lot of pressure between his concerns over Lydia, his secret relationship with Delia, his professional life, and his own grief (which he tries to ignore). Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: Bb3 Beetlejuice The dead guy of the hour! This titular character is zany, spooky, and absolutely hilarious. Though Beetlejuice exists in a morally gray area, he’s more of a trickster than a malevolent threat. He’s happy to align his interests with others, but ultimately, he’s looking out for himself. Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: G3 Adam Maitland Devoted husband of Barbara, just can’t catch a break. While life’s stresses were getting to him – renovation of the house, financial difficulties, and the decision about having a child – he certainly wasn’t ready for death. Gender: Male Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: Bb3 Barbara Maitland Barbara's stresses align with her husband’s, in life and death, although Barbara is a bit more adventurous than Adam. She is very kind but also strong-willed and a quick thinker. Barbara immediately bonds with Lydia. Gender: Female Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Delia Schlimmer Hopelessly (sometimes maniacally) optimistic. She believes fully in her guru, Otho, and considers herself a life coach, though underneath her façade she’s quite fragile and desperately wants to fit in with the Deetzes. Delia loves Charles and genuinely cares about Lydia’s well-being, even if her attempts to connect are somewhat misguided. Gender: Female Vocal range top: C#5 Vocal range bottom: G2 Maxie Dean The business tycoon whom Charles hopes to impress. Gender: Male Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: C4 Sky Gender: Female Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: G3 Miss Argentina Former beauty queen, greets the recently dead in the Netherworld. She leads “What I Know Now”. Gender: Female Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Maxine Dean Maxie's fourth (or fifth) wife. Gender: Female Otho Delia's guru and occasional exorsist. Show Information: When the street urchin, Aladdin, vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, he uses a genie's magic power to become a prince in order to marry her. Iago, Jafar, the Genie, and more are here in Disney’s Aladdin KIDS, a musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love.
Character Descriptions: Aladdin Aladdin, a poor street urchin, longs to do the right thing, but sometimes loses his way. He's the thief with a heart of gold, so cast your most charismatic actor with the versatility to play both the playful prankster and caring lead. Make sure he has the vocal chops to carry this heavy- singing role. Gender: Male Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Genie Genie is the fun-loving, scene-stealing wisecracker who lives in the lamp and yearns to be free. Genie doesn’t need to be your strongest singer or dancer – look for an actor with great comic timing and a flashy and fun sense of showmanship. Gender: Any Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: B3 Iago Iago is the fawning and funny parrot and sidekick to Jafar. With only a few lyrics to sing, focus on finding an actor who can execute this lackey's many sarcastic asides with comedic flair. Gender: Any Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: Ab3 Jafar Jafar is the power-hungry and crooked Royal Vizier. Cast a strong actor who can sing (or speak in rhythm) and portray both sides of Jafar's two- faced personality - loyal advisor to the Sultan and scheming villain - as well as pull off delicious comedic moments with his lackey Iago. Gender: Male Vocal range top: F4 Vocal range bottom: Ab3 Jasmine Jasmine, the Princess of Agrabah, longs to experience the world outside the palace walls. Curious and assertive, she knows what she wants and craves the freedom to create change and help the people of her kingdom. Cast a strong actor and singer who can portray both the caring lead and a young woman caught between her responsibilities to her people and to herself. Gender: Female Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: B3 Lamp Vendor The Lamp Salesman is a likeable fast-talking vendor who serves as the principal storyteller in our show. The student playing this role should be comfortable onstage and have a clear speaking voice. Since this is not a major singing role, it is ideal for a strong actor still developing his or her singing skills. Gender: Any Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: D4 Sultan Sultan, the warm-hearted ruler who dotes on his daughter, is committed to upholding the ancient laws of Agrabah. Focus on finding an actor who can play this father figure convincingly. Gender: Male Ensemble The Ensemble includes Djinn, magical theatrical spirits of the lamp; Agrabahns, citizens of Agrabah; palace Guards; hungry Beggars in the marketplace; Skeletons of past prisoner of the royal dungeon; and Prince Ali's Entourage. Djinn are the spirits of the lamp who help execute the magic of the story and sing with Genie in "Friend Like Me." Look for performers with a sense of theatricality and movement - you may choose to use them as featured dancers in "Friend Like Me." Agrabahns, the citizens of Agrabah who help to create the bustling marketplace, can include street performers, snake charmers, shoppers, fortune tellers, and families. Guards follow Jafar's orders. While there are only four solo singing roles, feel free to include as many additional guards as you like in your production. Beggars are a small group with whom Aladdin briefly interacts and who sing one lyric as a group; feel free to cast as many or as few as best suits your production. The Skeletons of past prisoners come to life in the palace's dungeon to sing the "Dungeon Ditty." For this group, look for performers who can both move and sing well. The Entourage helps to create the spectacular parade of "Prince Ali" through the royal palace. Gender: Any Bread Vendor Bread Vendor is an aggravated seller in the marketplace from whom Aladdin steals. Gender: Any Fruit Vendor Fruit Vendor is a friendly merchant in the marketplace. Gender: Any Prince Abdullah Prince Abdullah, Prince Hassim, and Prince Malik are the royal suitors who aspire to marry Jasmine. These pompous princes are more interested in becoming Sultan than getting to know the Princess, so cast three actors who can humorously convey different levels of clichéd coolness. Prince Hassim Prince Abdullah, Prince Hassim, and Prince Malik are the royal suitors who aspire to marry Jasmine. These pompous princes are more interested in becoming Sultan than getting to know the Princess, so cast three actors who can humorously convey different levels of clichéd coolness. Gender: Male Prince Malik Prince Abdullah, Prince Hassim, and Prince Malik are the royal suitors who aspire to marry Jasmine. These pompous princes are more interested in becoming Sultan than getting to know the Princess, so cast three actors who can humorously convey different levels of clichéd coolness. Gender: Male Cave Guardian The Cave Guardian is the ominous guard who instructs Aladdin to touch only the lamp. You may choose to cast this role as an onstage character or as an offstage voice. Gender: Any Avis Avis, a magical flying carpet, can be approached in a number of ways (see Director's Guide for costuming ideas) - either presented more literally as a carpet or, more expressionistically as a dancer who works with a stretch of fabric or dons a creative costume. Regardless of your vision for this character, Avis doesn't speak, so look for a performer who can articulate storytelling through both facial expressions and movement. Gender: Any
